Universiti Raman Malaysia is a university with a long history and quality educational resources, and my study experience here gave me unforgettable feelings and valuable gains.
Firstly, I would like to briefly introduce the course. As an accounting student, I participated in a research project on the differences between Malaysian and Chinese accounting standards. Through in-depth research, we learnt that the accounting standards of the two countries differ in many aspects such as financial statement formats, accounting principles and tax treatment. This project aimed to help us gain a broader understanding of accounting systems in different countries.
During the course, I experienced many interesting and meaningful activities. First, we participated in the orientation programme where we exchanged and shared experiences with our Malaysian classmates to promote mutual understanding and friendship. During the dumpling making and cooking activities, we made traditional food with our local classmates and experienced the Malaysian food culture. In addition, in the process of communicating with our supervisors about our thesis, we received professional guidance and advice to improve our research ability and academic level. We also had the honour of experiencing Malaysian customs, visiting local historical sites and cultural attractions, and gaining a deeper understanding of the country's traditional customs and religious culture.
Secondly, I felt the difference in the campus environment. Raman University has a beautiful campus and modern teaching facilities, providing students with good learning and living conditions. Compared to universities in China, the campus atmosphere here is more open and inclusive, focusing on cultivating students' innovative thinking and practical skills.
I also learned about their customs and practices through exchanges and contacts with my Malaysian classmates. Malaysia is a multicultural country with rich and diverse cultural traditions and religious customs. I learnt a lot about their lifestyles, festivals and celebrations, and social etiquette by interacting with local students.
Last but not least, I also received a letter of recommendation from Raman University, which is very helpful for my future development. This letter of recommendation attests to my participation and achievements in the research programme and provides strong support for my future job search or further studies.
Overall, I have gained a lot from the research experience at the University of Lamang Malaysia. By participating in the Accounting Research Programme, I have gained a better understanding of Malaysian and Chinese accounting standards. By communicating with my Malaysian classmates, I not only learned about their culture and traditions, but also developed cross-cultural communication skills. Meanwhile, by experiencing different types of education, campus environments and lifestyles, I gained a broader understanding of diversity and differences in the world. This study experience also laid a solid foundation for my personal development and future career planning.
